After selling the maintenance part of the business in 1993, I set out to concentrate on full scale landscape projects because it was the designing process that I really loved. During the time I was designing and installing landscapes, I also worked at a few different nurseries building up my knowledge of plants and working with people that were in the same industry that I so enjoyed. But something was missing.
We have a family cabin in Eldorado Springs Colorado, about 15 min. from Boulder. Having visited there on vacation many times as I was growing up, (and still visit today), I can remember sitting by the creek, which runs right by our cabin, listening to the sound of the water and looking out at the mountains thinking how lucky I am to have a retreat like this to run off to. I always knew that it was water and rockscapes that I wanted to create and incorporate into my landscaping repertoire.
In 1998, I got my chance to create beautiful waterscapes when I met the owner of "Rock-N-Water Creations, in Fillmore, Ca. I worked on a couple of projects with the company and before long, I was off on my own purchasing materials from Rock-N-Water, to use for my own projects. This is when I started FX of Nature.
In the eight years that followed, FX of Nature has installed over 250 water features including some large scale projects that I have been blessed to be a part of. My company also displays our work at six Home and Garden shows a year, as well as three permanent displays here in the Thousand Oaks area. |
