Frequently Asked Questions
|
Q. |
Is there a lot of maintenance? |
A. |
An Aquascape pond is extremely easy to maintain. Periodically you
will need to add some dry bacteria to the Skimmer Filter. Depending on
leaf drop from surrounding trees, the Skimmer net should be emptied
when full. Your plants will also thrive in their new environment and need
to be pruned back a couple of times during the growing season.
Our biological waterfall filters need to be cleaned out once a year,
and our media rock can be reused, unlike traditional sand filters where
you have to replace he media every 6 months.
A “well balanced pond” is not hard to maintain. |

Q. |
Will I get green water or string algae in my pond? |
A. |
Most ponds experience a “Green Water” period between the first and
sixth month. This happens as the plants, fish, and good bacteria fight to
establish their dominance in the ecosystem. It will usually correct itself
and disappear on its own within a few weeks. Some “String Algae”
is normal in a pond, but should become less prevalent once the
ecosystem becomes balanced |

Q |
How much will it cost in electricity every month? |
A. |
It depends on the size of the pump being used. The cost will usually
start at about$20.00 a month based on a 1500 gallon per hour pump
but can go up from here using a larger pump, and depending on the
current cost of electricity in your area. |

Q |
How often will I need to replenish the water in my pond? |
A. |
Due to evaporation and some splashing, water will periodicly need
to be added into the pond. There are a lot of factors that will
determine this, but on average you may need to add some water
every week or two. We can also install an automatic water-fill
valve that will keep the water at a given level. |

Q. |
What is the cost? |
A. |
An installed water feature is about the same price as an outdoor spa.

size of a stream added, the lighting package and other accessories that
